What Will be Funded
This fund provides support to key building renovation or construction projects that preserve and honour the legacy of Japanese Canadians from BC who were impacted by the historic events before, during and after WWII. This could mean key funding support for a new building, or a project that renovates an already established site.
The project will contribute to the purposes of the Community Fund – building a lasting legacy for Japanese Canadians.
This fund is restricted to Japanese Canadian organizations who are building owners with capacity to manage the project, provide a high-traffic space for community gathering, and provide long-term maintenance. There must be clear project goals, project management, a detailed schedule and timeline, and budget that fits the JCLS budget template. Feasibility, risk mitigation, and ongoing maintenance must be demonstrated.
Regional allocation of funds may be taken into account.
